Sahuarita Regional Library Project Wins ENR Best Project Award
We are proud to share that the Sahuarita Regional Library has been honored as the Best Cultural/Worship Project in ENR Southwest’s 2021 Best Projects Awards. This recognition reflects the collaborative efforts of our dedicated team and partners in bringing this community-focused facility to life.rnrnLocated in Sahuarita, Arizona, the 17,000-square-foot library was designed by Line and Space LLC and constructed by Concord General Contracting. The library features specialized book collections, flexible meeting spaces, a multipurpose room that opens to an outdoor performance patio, and the innovative “next big thing room” designed to adapt to future community needsrnrnSustainability was a key focus throughout the project. The design incorporates solar orientation, rainwater harvesting, xeriscaping, and materials selected for their resilience and low maintenance, aligning with LEED Silver standards. The library’s architecture pays homage to the region’s copper mining history through angular steel structures and offers shaded outdoor reading areas for year-round comfortrnrnA notable aspect of the project was the team’s commitment to quality. When minor chipping was observed in some concrete masonry units, Concord collaborated closely with the architect, masonry subcontractor, and block supplier to address the issue promptly, ensuring the project remained on schedule without additional costs.rnrnWe are honored to have contributed to a project that not only serves as a valuable resource for the Sahuarita community but also exemplifies excellence in sustainable design and construction.rnrnCitation: Engineering News-Record (ENR). “Best Cultural/Worship: Sahuarita Regional Library.” Published November 1, 2021. https://www.enr.com/articles/52776-best-cultural-worship-sahuarita-regional-library
